In the face of these pressures, workers must organize globally as well.
That's why SEIU and the Transport and General Workers Union—the largest transportation union in the United Kingdom—formed a transatlantic partnership to hold UK-based bus companies accountable to employees and consumers in both countries.
One of those UK-based bus companies is FirstGroup, a multinational bus and rail corporation that claims to respect and value its union employees in the United Kingdom, but actively opposes efforts by its U.S. employees to join together in a union.
U.S. School Bus Drivers Take Concerns to FirstGroup Board in Scotland
U.S. school bus drivers took their message about poor employment standards and aggressive anti-union activities straight to FirstGroup's management and shareholders in the United Kingdom, speaking out in mid-July at the company’s annual meeting in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Late last year, hundreds of bus workers marched on the London and U.S. offices of FirstGroup demanding that the company stop driving down global bus industry standards and cease its anti-union activities in the United States.
