School Bus Workers Form Global Alliance

As multinational corporations comb the globe seeking to exploit cheap labor and privatize public services, they drive down employment and service standards around the world.

In the face of these pressures, workers must organize globally as well.

That's why SEIU and the Transport and General Workers Union—the largest transportation union in the United Kingdom—formed a transatlantic partnership to hold UK-based bus companies accountable to employees and consumers in both countries.

One of those UK-based bus companies is FirstGroup, a multinational bus and rail corporation that claims to respect and value its union employees in the United Kingdom, but actively opposes efforts by its U.S. employees to join together in a union.
